Custom Trip to Thailand

40-baht pad thai, golden temples in Bangkok, transparent water at Koh Lipe.

Thailand has value that’s hard to beat. A 40-baht pad thai on Yaowarat Road, a golden temple around every corner, transparent water on islands reachable by 15-euro ferry. In Bangkok, Wat Pho and its 46-meter reclining Buddha are a morning visit. The afternoon disappears into the Chatuchak market stalls. And the food keeps getting better the cheaper it gets.

Where do you find the best street food in Thailand?

Bangkok deserves three nights minimum. The Chinatown district of Yaowarat transforms after 6 PM into a corridor of smoke and wok fire: stir-fried noodles, pork satay skewers, mango sticky rice served in a banana leaf. The Grand Palace is best visited before 9 AM, while the tour groups are still at their hotels. At the Damnoen Saduak floating market (90 minutes by car), vendors serve noodle soup from their boats — the scene looks staged, but the broth is real.

In Chiang Mai, Doi Suthep at 1,676 meters offers a view that stops you cold. The old walled city is easy to explore by bicycle. The Sunday market on Ratchadamnoen Road stretches for a full kilometer: paper lanterns, lemongrass soap, curry paste to bring home.

North of there, Pai is a quiet mountain village with natural hot springs and waterfalls reachable on foot.

When should you visit Thailand and where should you go?

The ideal season runs November to April. Domestic flights with AirAsia or Nok Air cost between 30 and 60 euros and connect Bangkok to the South in 1h15.

The southern islands

In the South, Koh Lipe, Koh Lanta and the Railay cliffs shift the trip’s register entirely. The water is warm, transparent, almost surreal. Koh Lanta works well for families — long shallow beaches, accommodation ranging from 15-euro bamboo huts to resorts with pools. For something more remote, the Similan Islands (open November to May) have some of the best snorkeling in Southeast Asia — clear visibility down to 30 meters.

A custom trip to Thailand puts all of this in the right order, so you enjoy the country without spending your evenings planning the next day.

Frequently asked questions about Thailand

When is the best time to visit Thailand?
November to April, during the dry season. Temperatures range from 25 to 33 °C and the southern islands are at their best. The monsoon (June-October) brings daily downpours, especially on the Andaman coast. Chiang Mai is ideal November to February when nights cool down.
How much does a trip to Thailand cost?
Between 30 and 70 euros per day per person. A street meal costs 1-3 euros, a decent hotel 15-40 euros per night. Domestic flights with AirAsia run 30-60 euros. A full day of food rarely exceeds 15 euros eating at street stalls.
How many days do you need in Thailand?
Two weeks for Bangkok (3 nights), Chiang Mai (3 nights) and the southern islands (5-6 nights). Ten days work if you limit yourself to Bangkok and one region. Three weeks let you add the northeast (Isaan) or quieter islands like Koh Lipe.
Do you need a visa for Thailand?
No. EU, US, UK and Australian citizens can enter Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days (extendable by 30 days at any immigration office for 1,900 baht). Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from entry date.
